Why herbal medicine?

Western Herbal Medicine isn't new, it's been around since before 1500BC. The Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Arab civilisations all contributed to the initial development of medical herbal remedies. Later, both European and North American herbalists and healers assisted with further developments. By the 18th century, the individual chemical constituents in plants began to be identified. At first, drugs were obtained from these constituents, then gradually their chemical structures were replicated synthetically. This created more powerful medications, although occasionally provoked side effects. Whilst many modern orthodox drugs provide an essential lifeline, Herbal Medicine may be able to provide a route to improving your health.

But, does it work?

More and more clinical studies are now being carried out, showing the potential benefits of Herbal Medicines, also known as Phytotherapy. This is a very exciting time for Herbal Medicine, as it is currently being rediscovered, reassessed and reintroduced.
